Toy design for DX Mechabuton also revealed

Tatsunoko Productions and Level-5 announced on Thursday that their upcoming Time Bokan 24 television anime will premiere in October on NTV and Yomiuri TV, and will air every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (airing in what is now Ace Attorney's timeslot). Designer Kunio Okawara (Mobile Suit Gundam, Yatterman, Armored Trooper Votoms) is working on the anime's mechanical design.

Tatsunoko also revealed the anime's story. It will center on Tokio, a junior high student living in the present time who is suddenly made a member of the 24th century's Space-Time Administration Bureau. Immediately, he learns that the history he has learned in the textbooks is wrong, and there is a more interesting version of history where the peerless beauty Cleopatra is actually the comic duo of Cleo and Patra, Momotarō is more of an ogre than actual ogres. Together with his teammate Karen, they use the 24 Bokan Mecha to search for the True History.

The Bokan Mecha will be able to transform and combine. The villains in the story include Bimajo, Tsubuyakkiy and Suzukky, who are employed by History Paradise —the world's largest textbook company — to keep history as it was written in the textbooks.

Takara Tomy also unveiled its toy design for the series' DX Mechabuton at the International Tokyo Toy Show:

Takayuki Inagaki (World Break: Aria of Curse for a Holy Swordsman, Rosario + Vampire) is directing the series, and Yoichi Kato (Yo-kai Watch, Aikatsu!) is in charge of series composition. Akihiro HIno (Yo-kai Watch, Inazuma Eleven story) is the creative producer. Level-5 is contributing the original character and mechanical designs and planning the project with Tatsunoko Productions.

The anime is one part of a project to celebrate Tatsunoko Productions' 55th anniversary in 2017. Tatsunoko Productions is also collaborating with Digital Frontier to produce an anime adaptation of Ukyō Kodachi and Tatsuma Ejiri's Infini-T Force ~Mirai no Byōsen~ (Infini-T Force: Writing Line of the Future) manga as part of the project.

The original Time Bokan television anime series premiered on Fuji TV in 1975, and its original broadcast ended in 1976. The anime inspired six spinoff television anime series, including Yatterman, that aired until 1983. The most recent related television anime, Yatterman Night, debuted in 2015, and Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Update: Show's timeslot corrected.
