Author to attend events, autograph sessions at October 6-9 event

Viz Media, Japan Society, and ReedPOP announced on Friday that Assassination Classroom manga creator Yūsei Matsui will attend New York Comic Con this year. Matsui will attend events and autograph sessions.

Matsui worked as an assistant to Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo manga creator Yoshio Sawai, and then debuted his 23-volume Neuro - Supernatural Detective manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2005. That manga inspired a 25-episode television anime series in 2007-2008, and Viz Media began streaming the series in 2011.

Matsui then launched Assassination Classroom in 2012, and ended the series in March. Shueisha will publish the manga's 21st volume in Japan on July 4, and Viz Media published the manga's 10th volume in English on June 7.

The manga inspired a 22-episode television anime series last year, and the show's second season premiered in January and is ongoing. Funimation streamed the first season as it aired and is also releasing the first season on Blu-ray Disc and DVD. The company is also streaming the second season as it airs.

Assassination Classroom also inspired two live action films that opened in Japan in March 2015 and March 2016, respectively.

New York Comic Con will be held from October 6-9 at the Javits Center.
