New Final Fantasy XV Trailer Shows 1st-Person VR Experience

Video shows player controlling Prompto in 1st-person perspective

Sony unveiled a new trailer for Square Enix's Final Fantasy XV PlayStation 4 and Xbox One game during its press conference on Monday. The final portion of the trailer reveals a "Final Fantasy XV VR Experience" demonstration, showing a first-person perspective with the player controlling Prompto, wearing Sony's PlayStation VR headset.

Neither Sony nor Square Enix confirmed if the mode will be playable within the main Final Fantasy XV game, or if it will be a separate game.

Final Fantasy XV will ship on September 30 worldwide.

The PlayStation VR headset is set for release on October 13 for US$399.

Apart from the game's standard edition, Square Enix will also offer the game in a Deluxe Edition and Collector's Edition. The Deluxe Edition will come with a steelbook case, a copy of the Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV film, and three DLC items, including: a Royal Raiment outfit, a Masamune weapon, and a Platinum Leviathan recoloring of the Regalia vehicle. It is available for pre-order for US$89.99.

The Collector's Edition will include all the items in the Deluxe Edition, but also adds a 192-page art book, an Play Arts Kai figure of Noctis, a soundtrack that includes music from the game as well as Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV and Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, a copy of the Brotherhood: Final Fantasy XV anime, and four additional items, including: a Travel Pack, Camera Kit, Angler Set, and Gourmand Set. It was available for pre-order for US$269.99, and is limited to 30,000 sets. Square Enix will print more copies of the Collector's Edition, but stated that the extra copies might nit make it in time for the game's September 30 release date.
