On Monday August 28, Anime Limited will release the 1996 comedy space opera Martian Successor Nadesico on Blu-ray. The AlltheAnime website describes the story:
The Earth, its moon and its Martian colonies are under alien attack, but the war against the “Jovian lizards” has, so far, been nothing short of a series of disasters.
Disgusted by the incompetence of Earth's military, the independent arms manufacturer Nergal builds its own space battleship and plans to launch a desperate offensive to save humanity. But due to a shortage of trained soldiers, they've assembled the most unorthodox crew to ever launch into orbit! With a pacifist cook-turned-unwilling mecha pilot and a ditsy admiral's daughter in command, can this unprecedented gathering of geeks, misfits and anime fans prevail against the Jovian menace?
As well as the 26-part series, the Blu-ray edition will also contain Martian Successor Nadesico: The Motion Picture - Prince of Darkness and the OVA Gekigangar 3, as well as interviews with the Japanese cast; the featurette "Welcome to Belle Equipe"; and nine art cards and a sticker sheet.
Anime Limited will also release a Blu-ray and a DVD collecting Tokyo Ghoul: Jack and Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto. These are two OVA episodes spun off from Tokyo Ghoul. Tokyo Ghoul: Jack involves a delinquent schoolboy trying to take revenge on the Ghoul who killed his friend, while Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto is about a very unusual girl who begins a strange acquaintance with the dandyish Ghoul Shu Tsukiyama.
Animatsu will release the 24-part series Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma on both Blu-ray and DVD. Yūto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki's original Food Wars: Shokugeki no Sōma comedy manga centers on Sōma, who works with his dad at his family's restaurant. His dad is a culinary master, and he often hosts cooking battles with his father. His father then enrolls him in an elite culinary school that is very difficult to enter, and the graduation rate is only about 10 percent.
Yoshitomo Yonetani (Gaogaigar, Betterman) directed the anime at J.C. Staff. Shogo Yasukawa (Terra Formars, Hyperdimension Neptunia, Invaders of the Rokujyōma!?) was in charge of the series scripts, and Tomoyuki Shitaya (Bakuman., BlazBlue Alter Memory, Hatsukoi Limited) designed the characters. Jin Aketagawa was the sound director, and Tatsuya Katou(Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Free! - Iwatobi Swim Club, Medaka Box) composed the soundtrack.
MVM will release the full 26-part P.A. Works series A Lull in the Sea in a single DVD edition. (It was previously released as a Limited Blu-ray edition, and a two-part DVD edition.)
Funimation will release Fairy Tail Part 17 on DVD, carrying parts 188 to 199 of the series.
Manga Entertainment will release Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal Season 1, containing 49 episodes.
