Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest Anime to Have 2 Unaired Episodes

13 episodes to air on TV, with 2nd, 3rd BD boxes bundling unaired episodes

The official website for the television anime of Ryo Shirakome's Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest (Arifureta Shokugyō de Sekai Saikyō) light novel series revealed on Tuesday that the anime will have three Blu-ray Disc boxes in Japan that will ship on October 30, December 25, and February 26, respectively. The second and third boxes will both have unaired episodes titled "Yue no Nikkichō" (Yue's Diary) and "Naresome Onsen" (The Hot Spring Where Romance Blooms). The series will air a total of 13 episodes.

The series premiered on Monday. Funimation is streaming the series, and will also begin streaming an English dub on July 22. Funimation describes the story:

Hajime Nagumo and his high school class are suddenly summoned to a fantastical land as heroes. But while most of his classmates have powerful stats and abilities, Hajime does not. Underappreciated and unprepared, he tumbles into the depths of a monster-infested dungeon where voracity and sacrifice are his only options. To thrive in this savage world, he'll have no choice but to welcome the abyss.

The anime was originally slated to premiere in April 2018 but was delayed to July 2019.

The staff has changed since the anime's initial announcement. Kinji Yoshimoto (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Seven Mortal Sins, Genshiken 2) is directing the anime at WHITE FOX and asread. Chika Kojima (Big Order) adapts Takayaki's original designs for animation. Shoichi Sato (Yes! Precure 5 GoGo!, Shakugan no Shana episode scriptwriter) and Kinji Yoshimoto (Queen's Blade: The Exiled Virgin, The Seven Mortal Sins) are supervising and penning the series' scripts. Ryō Takahashi (Citrus, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.) is composing the music.

Jun Kamiya (Kingdom) was originally slated to direct the series at WHITE FOX, with Atsuo Tobe (Kingdom) as character designer. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Is the order a rabbit?) was originally in charge of the series scripts, but is no longer listed as working on the project.

J-Novel Club is also publishing Shirakome's prequel spinoff novel series Arifureta Zero. Seven Seas began publishing the manga adaptation of the main series in print in English last March, and it also licensed the Arifureta - From Commonplace to World's Strongest: Zero and Arifureta: I Love Isekai (Arifureta Nichijou de Sekaisaikyou) spinoff manga.

Shirakome launched the novel series in Japan in June 2015 under the OVERLAP Bunko label, with illustrations by Takayaki, after initially presenting it on the user-submission site Shōsetsu ni Narō. OVERLAP published the novel series' ninth volume on December 21, and the 10th volume will ship on June 25.

Artist RoGa launched an ongoing manga adaptation in 2016 on Comic Gardo, OVERLAP's online manga site. OVERLAP published the manga's fifth compiled book volume on June 25. A manga adaptation of the Arifureta Zero spinoff novel series launched on Comic Gardo in February 2018. OVERLAP published the manga's second compiled book volume on December 21.
