The coming-of-age story follows a high school student who can see a person's intent to kill. He encounters three "loner" girls, including the cold "Duchess of the Library," a solo camper who lives in the park, and an isolated "Ice Queen" from a school for wealthy girls.

Kaitō launched the Unbreakable Machine-Doll light novel series with illustrations by LLO (Mushi-Uta , Oreshura ) in 2009, and ended it in July 2017. Hakaru Takagi launched a manga adaptation in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2010. Misato Kamada's Gene Metallica-Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai Re: Acta- manga ran in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Gene magazine from 2013 to 2014. The novels also inspired an image CD and a drama CD in 2010.

The novel series' anime adaptation premiered in October 2013. Funimation streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and released the series on DVD and Blu-ray Disc with an English dub in 2015. Crunchyroll began streaming the series in April 2017.

Hiyon Katsuragi (Mobile Suit Gundam AGE: First Evolution) and Kaitō's Mobile Suit Gundam Valpurgis EVE manga launched in Kadokawa's Gundam Ace in January 2023, and ended on May 26. The manga mini-series' story is the prequel to the original Mobile Suit Gundam Valpurgis manga.

Katsuragi and Kaitō launched the Mobile Suit Gundam Valpurgis manga in Kadokawa's Gundam Ace magazine in August 2017, but the manga's "chapter 0" was distributed via an event on the Super Gundam Royale game. The magazine had stated in September 2019 that the manga would have a "final conclusion" in its next chapter in October 2019, but the manga continued on past that point. The magazine published the second part of the manga's final chapter in November 2022.
