Smilegate Launches Game Development Event with Naver Webtoon

Smilegate Future Lab, the educational arm for one of the biggest Korean gaming developers, announced on September 24 that it has begun recruiting creators for “Beaver Jam with Naver Webtoon,” a game development event where participants will create original games inspired by popular webtoon series. The event will take place from October 24 to 26 at Smilegate Campus.
The program will select a total of 75 participants: 15 planners, 30 programmers, and 30 graphic designers. Creators could apply through the Future Lab website by September 13.
Once selected, participants will choose WEBTOON intellectual properties (IP) to adapt into games, forming teams of one planner, two programmers, and two designers. The process includes three rounds of discussions to finalize team structures.
Unity Korea, the event's official partner, will provide expert mentors who will share technical insights and offer hands-on guidance throughout the development process. On the final day, teams will showcase and demo their completed games.
Seven of the teams will receive gift certificates and the opportunity to present their work in the “Game Jam Showcase Zone” at BeaverRocks 2025, an indie game exhibition hosted by Smilegate this December.
