Korean media production company K Wave Media announced on Thursday it has begun production on a short-form live-action series based on the popular Naver Webtoon Man and Woman on Aside, created by Tae-ho Go.
Co-produced with MetaUniverse, the series is directed by Yoo-yeon Lee, known for youth romance projects including Best Mistake. The adaptation will comprise 50 episodes, each approximately 90 seconds in length, designed for short-form viewing.
The original webtoon gained a strong following for its realistic dialogue and layered characters, resonating with young adult readers. According to KWM, the show is targeting a release for the second half of 2025. Specific distribution platforms and scheduling will be announced later.
The story follows Namjoo Min, a man who once dreamed of becoming a professional soccer player but ultimately failed; and Ju-hye Yeo, a woman who has struggled since her school days with family discord and troubled relationships. When the two meet, they slowly begin to understand and empathize with each other, forming a bond through their shared pain and growth.
The original webtoon currently does not have an official English release. The original Korean webtoon ran from 2018 to 2019.
