Aniplex of America Announces Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story Blu-ray

Kamihama City, the city where Magical Girls and Uwasa are gathering.


SANTA MONICA, CA (November 18, 2020) – Aniplex of America has announced the latest addition to their Blu-ray catalogue: Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story Blu-ray Vol. 1. The Blu-ray set will be released on March 16, 2021 with all thirteen episodes from season one in both English and Japanese audio on three Blu-ray discs along with all four versions of the textless openings and ending, trailers, commercials, and the adorable animated “Magia Report” commercials. Featuring package illustrations by character designer Junichiro Taniguchi, the set also comes with an exclusive booklet featuring end card illustrations from every episode, as well as a soundtrack CD.

The series stars Momo Asakura (Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Charlotte) and Kira Buckland (Blue Exorcist, Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files {Rail Zeppelin} Grace note) as the main character, Iroha Tamaki, who is unable to recall the wish she made in exchange for becoming a Magical Girl. Following the rumor that Magical Girls can be saved if they go to Kamihama, she travels to Kamihama City, where she encounters Yachiyo Nanami, voiced by Sora Amamiya (The irregular at magic high school, ALDNOAH.ZERO) and Erika Harlacher (I want to eat your pancreas, PERSONA5 the Animation) and other Magical Girls including Tsuruno Yui, voiced by Shina Natsukawa (High School Fleet, ALDNOAH.ZERO) and Marieve Herington (Love Live! School idol Project, Seven Deadly Sins), Felicia Mitsuki, voiced by Ayane Sakura (Your lie in April, My Hero Academia) and Lizzie Freeman (Sword Art Online Alicization, Rent-A-Girlfriend), and Sana Futaba, voiced by Yui Ogura (Goblin Slayer, Encouragement of Climb) and Ryan Bartley (Sword Art Online the Movie -Ordinal Scale-, March comes in like a lion) .

Beautifully animated by SHAFT (Monogatari series, Puella Magia Madoka Magica series), an all-star production staff including Gekidan InuCurry (Doroinu) as chief director/series composition, aokiume for original main character concepts, and Akiyuki Shimbou as animation supervisor helms the show. The English dub features ADR script writer Kayli Mills (Ni No Kuni) with English voice directors Christian La Monte (Cells at Work!), Erica Mendez (I want to eat your pancreas), and Steve Staley (Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba).
