Tokyo in Tulsa – 2012 Press Release

Tokyo in Tulsa is returning to the Tulsa Convention Center and DoubleTree hotel July 20 through 22nd 2012, Oklahoma's largest 3-day Japanese culture, Anime, Gaming and Local Pop Culture convention is going to be larger than ever. Our 2012 lineup of attractions includes:

-See our amazing guest speakers! Meet Wendy LeeCowboy Bebop, Naruto, Lucky Star, Sakura Wars, Soul Calibur (series); J. Michael TatumSamurai 7, Ouran High School Host Club, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z; Spike SpencerNeon Genesis Evangelion, Vampire Knight; Stephania Young – Claymore, FMA:Brotherhood, One Piece; Wendy PowellFMA: Brotherhood, Baki; Caitlin GlassFullmetal Alchemist, Fractale, Black Butler II; and many, many more!

-A unique shopping experience provided by vendors and artists from across the country, and now larger than ever! Vendor room passes are included in Memberships and Day Passes. Those who are only interested in the Tokyo in Tulsa Shopping experience can purchase 1 day “Vendor Room Only” passes at the door for $15.

-Come witness or participate alongside the hundreds of people from around the region participating in Cosplay – the the art of dressing up in various Japanese styles or costuming as a favorite character from anime or Japanese pop culture. Most are handmade works of art, and an incredibly unique and jaw-dropping element of anime conventions. On Saturday afternoon, take a gander at the best of the best at our annual Cosplay contest!

-Tokyo in Tulsa features over 200 hours of Panels (also known as breakouts or workshops). Topics cover everything from Japanese to Local culture; from the informative to the fun. Take a look at our schedule. There's something for everyone.

-Join the weekend long dance party! Friday night, come see the Fender Music spotlight artist, and first all-Asian American dance-rock band (and anime con darlings) – The Slants! On Saturday night, head bang, glow-stick, and dance the night away to a mixture of Japanese and American pop/dance/electronica beats (courtesy of DJ HeavyGrinder, DJ Infam0us, and NerdRaves) at our annual Cosplay Ball and DDFT 4.0 (Dancy Dancy Fun Time). Rave/Concert admission is included in memberships and weekend/day passes, but 1 day “concert/rave only” passes can be purchased at the door for $15.

-Take the time to enjoy Oklahoma's premiere gaming experience with the largest dedicated gaming area in the state (provided by OKgamers.com)! With dozens of LCD screens and popular titles for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo Wii, as well as Arcade and Pinball machines! In addition to video gaming, enjoy our diverse selection of Tabletop Gaming, and Collectible Card Games (CCG). Access to the Gaming area is included in weekend and day memberships, but a 1 day game room pass can also be purchased for $15 per person. Come by for free play, or enter one of our tournaments! FPS and fighting game tournaments will take place throughout the weekend (including Super Street Fighter IV, Halo Reach, Call of Duty, as well as CCG tournaments. In all, we're pumping $4,000 guaranteed into tournament winnings! Tournaments require an entry fee.

Register online (until July 2nd) for all three days at the discounted price of $35! Weekend passes are available at the door for $50 (day passes are $30). VIP Sakura Passes are available for $150 and includes a TNT messenger bag full of goodies, swag, free stuff, and royal guest treatment. Sakura Club Memberships are limited to 100 individuals – first come, first serve.
