A second omnibus was the first thing to come to mind when I read this news. I think the only thing holding it back is the lack of volume 8.

actually they (yen press) have already announced a second full colour omnibius

Yep. It'll contain volumes 5, 6, and 7, plus the Lightning Pop art book. The YP site lists a Fall 2013 release time~

Daisuke Sato and Shoji Sato are not brothers they have the same last name which is a common surename/last name in Japan.

The long hiatus is Daisuke's fault as he is the writter, he has been long known for taking long breaks, or even just quitting series before they are finished.

Shoji has done a few other works along with his H-Doujin stuff where he got started. Right now he has been busy with Triage-X which at one time took a back seat to HOTD.

So who knows how long until the next chapter release, but good news none the less.

As for a second season it's going to be a long time. The first season covered volume 1-4 and only 7 volumes total have been released. When the series starts up again it will be chapter 1 of volume 8 which would give them enough source material for a second season for the anime.

But before the hiatus they were publishing 1 chapter bi-monthly so say it's 5-6 chapters that's over a year for the next volume if they start up again next month.

I do know the series did really well in Japan and here in the US, in fact they just re-released it on Blu-Ray in Japan in one whole boxset.

As you can tell I'm a huge fan and own just about every collectable item I can get my hands on. I've been following it since chapter 1 way back in 2006. But from the looks of it I got the impression it might end in volume 8, that's just a guess though.
