Why do I get the bad feeling that this game is going to be graphically lackluster? Just looking at the environment in that image showed not-so HD textures and polygon count that certainly wouldn't rival a lot of games you'll find on PS4. Granted, the game is probably far from finished so there's still time for all of that to shape up, but will it really be worthy of PS4(I'm assuming this is the system it'll be on since it's a console project. If it were a Vita game then what I'm seeing makes more sense, but they said it's a console game so my assumption is PS4.)?

I want them to continue the God Eater anime. I actually enjoyed it even though it had mixed reviews. Back then, there were at least 5-8 series I constantly watched in 2015-2016. God Eater, Gate, Gangsta, Charlotte, Prison School, Overlord, Rokka no Yuusha and plus a few more. Now, still no sequels and the stories haven't finished yet Sad. Gansta's company is now defunct so hoping someone else picks it up. Well, I guess I have to enjoy the game of God Eater, still hoping the series would return.

This is a disconnect between the terminology Japan uses for game development and what the west uses. In Japan, handheld and home console software are often bundled together in catch-all terms like packaged/consumer/console games. This is done because while handheld and home consoles have severe gulfs in hardware capabilities, they both support the same genres of games and business models. Plus, it's not like we're in the Gameboy days when a portable spinoff would borderline unrecognizably different due to the hardware. This is done to separate it from mobile/service games, which requires specialized development divorced from that space (F2P, touch inputs, screen orientations, easy gameplay styles, etc.).

AFAIK, the God Eater team has never specifically said this was a home console project. Given the sales of the franchise, it's almost certainly going to be on a handheld. They're probably using the "console project" tag to differentiate it from the recently launched God Eater Online mobile game.

It would just seem strange to me for them to jump back to a handheld after releasing HD remasters of God Eater: Resurrection and God Eater 2: Rage Burst on PS4 and PC. That makes it seem like they're making a move to home console. Not that there aren't games that are on both Vita and PS4, but if it is on Vita, why show that version in the promotional materials rather than the PS4 version and then confirm that it's coming to Vita? I'd love to say Switch instead of Vita, but God Eater at this point, if it's going to be on any console, it's a Sony platform.

If it does turn out that it's on PS4 and that's what it looks like, that is going to bug me because they aren't utilizing the full power of the system, instead making a Vita game and then simply porting it with minor alterations rather than a full overhaul.

Rage Burst is just an expansion. Pretty much every hunting game gets those. The first God Eater got one on PSP.

Resurrection may have been an attempt to introduce the series to home console players, but in Japan that wasn't a success. That release of the game still sold significantly more units on Vita than PS4. There simply isn't much of a market for hunting games on PS4. Toukiden 2 was the first Japanese hunting game developed from the ground up for home consoles in years. Even despite the Vita version being an afterthought, it was still the best-selling build in Japan and the decision to lead development on PS4 led to great consequences, as Toukiden 2 wound up selling about half as many units as the first.
