There's something very cute about a story about an author's original character or OC. I don't think you need hundreds of pages to tell a very sweet and emotionally gripping story. Nor do I think the involvement of sex would necessarily ruin a sweet, simple story. Nyaa! is something you pick up once or twice to read because it catches your eye, but it does such a good job to the point where it gets a recommendation from me.
This story has only two characters: a literal faceless main character and an incredibly detailed pretty boy, who I found out at the end of the volume is an OC that the author had played around online for a long time. This is their opportunity to give that character an incredibly sweet story. It's a simple tale about a young office worker who finds this cat-like boy randomly wandering in and out of his life. However, there's an attachment and desire to spend time with this young man as much as possible. This culminated in a very sweet and emotionally heartfelt confrontation that left me feeling satisfied with less than a hundred pages.
The sex scenes weren't particularly intense. There did seem to be more emphasis on oral than actual penetration. There's a running joke in the book that pops up about two or three times where our faceless main character potentially loses his anal virginity and the manga is a bit vague on how exactly that little thread ends. But when our two leads are together, I do feel emotion there. You can feel the passion for the author and the love they have for this character shine through. In some ways, it's a contagious feel feel-good book that I don't think you could go wrong with. Check it out if you're into some pretty boy BL.
