Actresses join Tomoaki Maeno, Yumi Hara as future sci-fi story's main cast

The official website for G-mode's mixed-media franchise Khronos Gear (Katayoku no Khronos Gear) announced on Tuesday that voice actresses Aoi Yūki (pictured lower right) and Sayuri Yahagi (pictured upper right) will perform the original video anime's theme song "Destiny Children." They will also play the heroine characters Jeanne Saya and Haruka Sasaki in the anime.

Tomoaki Maeno will play the protagonist Musashi Miyamoto and Yumi Hara will round out the main cast as Ryou Sakamoto. Additional roles include Tomo Saeki as Napo=Leo, Nobuaki Kanemitsu as Geese, Yukari Tamura as Kasuga, Michiko Neya as Florence, and Hiroshi Naka as Ikkyu.

The story is set in the near future not long from now, when humanity has completed an orbital elevator and begun developing the outer planets in earnest. An enigmatic extraterrestrial enemy known as "Obliquus" has set its sights on the solar system, and humanity enters a state of war with the first aliens it has encountered.

To counter the enemy's overwhelming technological superiority, the Khronos Foundation has assembled the descendants of every country's heroes, from Japan's Musashi Miyamoto and Ryōma Sakamoto to France's Napoleon and Joan of Arc. The foundation then fuses the descendants with "Gear" battle suits as special biological weapons, thus giving birth to "Khronos Gear."

The studio Anime International Company (AIC) is animating the video anime project, which is slated for release this summer. Hiroki Hayashi (Tenchi Muyo!, El Hazard, Battle Programmer SHIRASE) is directing the Khronos Gear anime, and Ryuichi Makino (Battle Athletes, Girls Bravo, Hourou Musuko/Wandering Son) is designing the characters. JR Eki Sakurajima (Battle Programmer SHIRASE, ToHeart2 adplus) is in charge of the story scenario and scripts, while Shigemi Ikeda (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Mobile Suit Gundam UC) is working on the background art with art director Ayu Kawamoto (No. 6, Waiting in the Summer, Kodomo no Jikan). Aya Ouchi (Tenchi Muyo! GXP, Wandering Son) is the color key artist, and Toshiki Kameyama (Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, Dusk Maiden of Amnesia) is the sound director.
