Producer Recreates Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Recipes
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Junior chef Sōma Yukihira never turns away from a challenge or unique food combinations. In the first episode of Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma he creates a "meat" dish from potatoes and cuts of bacon after his restaurant's fridge is ransacked. In the second episode, he attempts to win over Erina Nakiri's "God Tongue" with an egg, chicken, and aspic dish called "Transforming Furikake Gohan." Undaunted by the nontraditional cuisine, animation and music producer Noriko Dohi attempted to recreate both and they look delicious.

#shokugeki_anime pic.twitter.com/JUMvFpG0xD

For the first dish called "nanchatte roast pork," Dohi commented that it had plenty of umami flavor. Dohi wrote she wasn't sure if it was prepared properly since it was made based on what was shown in the episode. (Also, each tweet ends with the phrase "osomatsu," a catch-phrase used in the series originally taken from a phrase used as a sign of humility).
The second dish has a printed recipe. You can find it in the back of Viz Media's release of the first manga volume in English if you want to try it out for yourself. Dohi's attempt was "creamy," "fluffy," and a "vivid yellow.
The official Shokugeki no Sōma account also tweeted a different take on the "Transforming Furikake Gohan." This is a similar dish with teriyaki mayo available at Bakudan-yaki Honpo, a restaurant in Ikebukuro that's participating in a tie-in campaign.
#shokugeki_anime 鶴 pic.twitter.com/v80meyEGjp
