Cinnamaroll Tries Out an Idol Persona with Hiro Shimono

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

Voice actor and singer Hiro Shimono is known as the voice of Attack on Titan's Conny Springer, ACCA's Jean Otus, and Mobile Suit Gundam UC's Takuya Irei. He's preparing for the upcoming release of his third single "Running High" which happens to be the theme song for this season's Kabukibu! anime. He's getting a little help for the promotion, namely from Sanrio's white puppy Cinnamon mascot.

The promotion might seem random, but back in October Shimono was at Pacifico Yokohama convention center in Kanagawa for a special stage event promoting his first single "One Chance." A ballot box was present at the event where attendees could pick which Sanrio mascot they'd like to see Shimono collaborate with for a campaign. The poll offered 10 choices ranging from Hello Kitty to Gudetama. Cinnamon won over all and Sanrio released a new image of the mascot with many of Shimono's defining characteristics.

Cinnamon is pictured with the singer's trademark "tsuntsun" hair, protruding canine tooth, camouflage-patterned jacket, and a Husky dog on his head. The dog was previously used in promotional materials for "One Chance."

Collaborative merchandise will be available at the "Hiro Shimono Birthday Live Event 2017~Running High~" taking place next month in Tokyo and Osaka and at the Running High release event.

The Cinnamoroll mascots are celebrating their 15th anniversary by going on tour with the fluffiest food wagon in Japan.
