Studio Pierrot Animates Julia Vuori's Sika Books

Museum sells memory card with anime based on Finnish author's picture books

The veteran anime production house Studio Pierrot (Bleach, Naruto, Fushigi Yuugi) has created four animated shorts based on the Sika (Pig) children's books by the Finnish author Julia Vuori. However, the anime shorts are only available on a microSD memory card — a card that is being sold at the Eki museum in the central Japanese city of Kyoto from August 12 to August 26. During those two weeks, the museum is hosting the "Julia Vuori Picture Book Original Drawing Exhibition." In addition, only phones from the SoftBank mobile service provider can officially play the video contents on the memory card.

The original picture books depict the everyday life of a modern woman through a pig caricature. In addition to the anime, the one-gigabyte Sika (Pig) memory card also includes Flash-produced footage and four pieces of art.
