Haikyu!! Volleyball Anime's 3DS Game Trailer Previews Special Edition

posted on by Kyle Cardine
Special edition will include a cast DVD and original RPG story

Bandai Namco Games streamed a trailer on Tuesday for its Haikyu!! Tsunage! Itadaki no Keshiki!! (Haikyu!! Connect! View from the top!!) game for the Nintendo 3DS. The trailer features the items included with the special edition version of the game, including a DVD with a 40-minute cast talk and a 10-minute "RPG picture drama," six postcards, a booklet with character designs from the RPG story, and a special edition carrying case. The special edition will retail for 7,600 yen (about US$74.96).

The cast members who appear in the video are: Ayumu Murase (Shōyō Hinata), Kaito Ishikawa (Tobio Kageyama), Satoshi Hino (Daichi Sawamura), Nobuhiko Okamoto (Yū Nishinoya), Miyu Irino (Kōshi Sugawara), and Yoshimasa Hosoya (Asahi Azumane).

The game was announced in the 18th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. The game will allow players to experience the world of Haikyu!! anime in two ways: the Adventure Mode and the Game Mode. In the Adventure Mode, depending on the character the player chooses to be the main character, the story may differ from the original manga and anime, as the game will include new plot points.

In Game Mode, the player will battle against their in-game rivals with the character they have powered-up through choosing a training menu. The strategies and in-game drama from the source material will also be included during matches.

Production I.G's anime adaptation of Haruichi Furudate's Haikyu!! volleyball manga premiered in April. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the series for North American digital and home video release and Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.
