Solo project led by the cabs' former guitarist Kunimitsu Takahashi

Next year's combined fourth and fifth issue of Shueisha's Young Jump magazine announced on Thursday that the project österreich is performing the opening song "Munō" (Incompetence) for the second season based on Sui Ishida's Tokyo Ghoul manga. Ai Kamano of the alternative rock band haisuinonasa contributed to the newly written song as the guest vocalist. The label Marvelous will ship the song as österreich's first single on March 4, 2015.

The newly formed österreich is a solo project by Kunimitsu Takahashi, the former guitarist of "the cabs." The cabs broke up in February 2013 before going on a planned record release tour. Takahashi briefly disappeared before the band split, and later blamed the break up on his own "laziness" and mental difficulties at the time.

The band amazarashi will perform the ending song "Kisetsu wa Tsugitsugi Shindeiku" (Seasons Dying One After Another).

Tokyo Ghoul √A (Root A) will premiere on January 8 on the Tokyo MX station. Tokyo's Toho Cinemas Nihonbashi will host an advance screening of the first episode on January 4.

Ishida's original manga has over 9.3 million copies in circulation. Ishida ended the manga on September 18, then launched Tokyo Ghoul:re with a different lead character in October.
