Kanon Wakeshima Performs Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Anime's Ending

Yuka Iguchi performs "Hey World" opening for anime premiering in April

Kanon Wakeshima (Vampire Knight, Selector Infected Wixoss) will perform the ending theme song for the television anime adaptation of Fujino Ōmori's Dungeon ni Deai o Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darō ka? (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) light novel series.

Wakeshima's theme song, "RIGHT LIGHT RISE" will be included on a CD single that will ship in Japan on April 29. A limited edition CD will retail for 1,800 yen (about US$15), while the normal version of the CD will retail for 1,200 yen (about US$10). Yuka Iguchi's opening theme song, "Hey World" will ship on a single on the same day. A limited edition pressing of the CD will cost 1,800 yen, a version of the CD with anime art will cost 1,600 yen (about US$14), and the normal version will retail for 1,200 yen.

Fujino Ōmori began the original light novel series under SB Creative's GA Bunko imprint in 2013. The novel won the grand prize in the fourth GA Bunko Awards. The series has sold over 500,000 copies, and the novel has inspired three different manga series. Yen Press licensed the novel series for English release in North America, and it published the first volume in December.

Yen Press describes the story:

In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon.

But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans.

He wants to pick up girls.

Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not. After one misguided adventure, Bell quickly discovers that anything can happen in the labyrinth–even chance encounters with beautiful women. The only problem? He's the one who winds up the damsel in distress!!

Warner Brothers Japan began streaming the Comiket 87 promotional video for the anime last December:

The anime will star Matsuoka as the protagonist Bell Cranel, while Inori Minase and Saori Ōnishi will star as the "Loli deity" Hestia and the top-class female human adventurer Eyes Warenstein, respectively. Maaya Uchida will also star as Ririruka Aade.

Yoshiki Yamakawa (Hatsukoi Limited, Little Busters!) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff (A Certain Magical Index, Little Busters!), and Hideki Shirane (Date A Live, Bottle Fairy) is supervising the series scripts. Shigeki Kimoto (Sky Girls sub character design) is designing the characters for the anime, and GENCO is producing the series.

The anime will premiere on Japanese television in April.
