The official website of the RIN-NE 2 television anime series announced on Tuesday that Taishi Murata will play the character Matsugo in the anime. The character will debut in the show's 42nd episode "Shinigami Shōgakkō Dōsōkai" (Shinigami Elementary School Reunion) on July 30.

The character is Rinne Rokudō's former elementary school classmate. His debut episode will involve Matsugo meeting Rinne at a class reunion. He still holds a grudge against him due to an outdoor class activity four years ago.
RIN-NE 2 is the second anime series based on Rumiko Takahashi's RIN-NE (Kyōkai no Rinne) manga. Sentai Filmworks has licensed the second season, and the anime is currently streaming on The Anime Network and Crunchyroll. The anime premiered in Japan on April 9.
The rock band CreepHyp is performing "Ainii," the current opening theme song, while Shiggy Jr. is performing the current ending theme song "Beautiful Life." Both theme songs debuted in the show's 38th episode.
The first television anime series premiered in April 2015 on the public broadcaster NHK's E-Tele channel. Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for release in North America.
