1st play is prequel, 2nd play will continue story from last September's play

The official website for the stage play adaptations of the La storia della Arcana Famiglia video game franchise announced that two new stage plays have been green-lit, and will run in March and September. Ryōhei Shioguchi (seen below in costume) will reprise his role from the first stage play as Jolly.

The first of the new stage plays will run from March 1 to 5 at the CBGK Shibugeki!! theater in Tokyo. The play will be an original "episode 0" prequel that will focus on Arcana Famiglia's heads: the childhood friends Debito, Pace, and Luca. The September stage play is tentatively titled Arcana Famiglia Episode 3. The play will follow up on the story from the second stage play, and will include new characters.

The original stage play adaptation of the game, titled La storia della Arcana Famiglia Valentino, ran in January last year. The second stage play, titled Arcana Famiglia 2 -23-mai Me no Tarocco- (Arcana Famiglia 2 -The 23rd Tarocco-), ran last September.

The original game's story follows Arcana Famiglia, a self-appointed organization with mysterious powers that has protected a small Mediterranean island from pirates, foreign countries, and other threats. The only daughter of the family's "Papa," Felicitá, will be married to the next head of the family in two months — and the successor will be decided in a competition that Felicitá herself will take part in.

The franchise originated in HuneX (VitaminX Addiction) and Comfort Soft's adventure game for female players in 2011. The first game has sold over 50,000 copies and spawned two 2012 spinoffs called Vascello Phantasma no Majutsushi and Festa Regalo, as well as a full Arcana Famiglia 2 sequel in 2013.

The franchise also inspired a television anime in 2012. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and Sentai Filmworks released the anime on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in 2013.

The original game received a PlayStation Vita port in December 2015.
