Hero TV Previews The Asterisk War Anime's Tagalog Dub

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Anime premieres on August 18

Philippine television channel HERO TV began streaming a Tagalog-dubbed video on Monday for its screening of The Asterisk War: The Academy City on the Water anime. The anime will premiere on August 18.

The Asterisk War anime is set after an event known as Invertia, a massive meteor shower that results in tragic levels of death and destruction on Earth. However, Invertia also gave rise to new technologies: a hidden element within the meteors leapfrogged human technology, and also gave rise to the "Genestella," humans born with special powers. A massive collection of six schools, situated on an artificial island platform known as Rikka – also known as "The Asterisk" – take in these Genestella and teach them how to use their abilities. Each year they hold annual combat competitions that pits each school's contestants against each other. The story centers on Ayato Amagiri, who attends Seidōkan Academy, one of the Asterisk schools. He is investigating the disappearance of his sister. He meets Julis-Alexia, a princess of a minor European nation that is in the school to earn money for her nation. Together, they train in their powers, and stumble into secret truths about the Asterisk.

The anime adapts Yuu Miyazaki and okiura's light novel series. The first anime premiered in October 2015, and the second premiered in April 2016.

Manabu Ono (A-Channel, Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, The irregular at magic high school) served as general director of the series at A-1 Pictures. Kenji Seto (Wooser no Sono Higurashi Kakusei-hen, assistant director on A-Channel and Saki) directed the series, Tetsuya Kawakami (Nanana's Buried Treasure, Robot Girls Z, Shigofumi - Letters from the Departed, Toei Robot Girls) handled the character designs and served as animation director, and Rasmus Faber (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne theme songs) composed the music.
