A manga adaptation of Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei), the first film in the Godzilla anime trilogy, will launch in the Shonen Jump + web magazine and on the Z web site in March. Youth Kurahashi (Summer Hero) is drawing the manga.

The manga will cover story material not in the anime, add original elements, and offer a glimpse into the "surprising past" of the characters.

Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (Godzilla: Kaijū Wakusei) opened in Japan on November 17. The film ranked at #3 at the Japanese box office in its first weekend and dropped to #6 in its second week. It was slated to stream globally on the Netflix service this year, but it has not yet debuted.

The film also received a prequel novel on October 25, supervised by Gen Urobuchi.

The second film, Godzilla: Kessen Kidō Zōshoku Toshi, will open in Japan in May.
