Series tie-in to Precure magical girl anime franchise premieres April 7

The official website of Koe Girl!, a new live-action series tie-in to Toei Animation's Precure magical girl franchise, revealed the show's ending theme song artists and the show's April 7 premiere on TV Asahi.

Haruka Fukuhara and Haruka Tomatsu perform the ending theme song "It's Show Time!!" Tak Miyazawa composed the song, and Ken'ichi Maeyamada (Hyadain) wrote the lyrics. The song's CD single goes on sale on May 23. Both Fukuhara and Tomatsu are also starring in the show, with the former as the main character, and the latter as herself.

The live-action series celebrates the franchise's 15th anniversary, but is not directly connected to the world or story of the franchise. The series will premiere TV Asahi on April 7, and on ABC on April 8. Asahi Broadcasting Aomori, Yamagata TV, Asahi Broadcasting Nagano, Shizuoka Asahi TV, Hokuriku Asahi Broadcasting, Nagoya TV Broadcasting, Ehime Asahi Television, Ryukyu Asahi Broadcasting, and Yamaguchi Asahi Broadcasting will also air the show later. TVer, GYAO, and other services will stream the series.

The series stars Haruka Fukuhara (center in image above) as Kotomi Kikuchi, a grocer's only daughter who has no knowledge or experience in voice acting. (Note: Character name Romanizations are not official.) Fukuhara also starred in the recent Kirakira ☆ Precure a la Mode anime as Himari Arisugawa/Cure Custard.

Other cast members include:

  • Aoi Yoshikura (far left) as Ryōko Ochiai, a former child actress who pivoted into voice acting

  • Mariya Nagao (center left) as Ren Inaba, a Precure otaku with the most aspiration to become a voice actress

  • Yurika Nakamura (center right) as Asami Kuriyama, a girl with a lot of professional knowledge and skill, and whom Kotomi considers a rival

  • Jun Amaki (far right) as Konatsu Morimoto, the group's moodmaker who hails from Kansai, and a sore loser.

Haruka Tomatsu (HappinessCharge PreCure!'s Iona Hikawa/Cure Fortune, Sword Art Online's Asuna, DARLING in the FRANXX's Code:002) plays herself in the series. She plays a role of watching over the main characters, who are all aspiring voice actresses. In addition, the show has a scene where the characters go to Tomatsu's concert. The scene uses footage of her concert during the "LAWSON premium event Tomatsu Haruka 360°SPECIAL LIVE at Maihama Ampitheater" event on February 25, and it shows her singing the song "Q&A Recital!" (the opening theme song to the My Little Monster anime).

The story centers around five girls all aiming to become voice actresses, and who all live together in the same dormitory. The story begins when Kotomi is scouted to be a voice actresses, and casually enters the world of voice acting. The story follows the girls as they take voice lessons and learn to become voice actresses. The series features famous scenes from various Precure anime, and the girls say signature lines from the franchise.

Natsuki Seta, Toshiki Sōma, and Kyōhei Tamazawa are directing the series, and Kouta Fukuhara and Shinya Hokimoto are writing the scripts. Shōji Ikenaga is composing the music.

Hugtto! Precure, the latest entry in the franchise, premiered on February 11. Kirakira ☆ Precure a la Mode, the previous anime, aired from February 2017 to January 28, and also spawned the Eiga Kirakira ☆ Precure a la Mode: Paris to! Omoide no Mille-Feuille! anime film last October.
