Nobu+ is produced in partnership with the Gurunavi website, and will consist of two shows. Izakaya connoisseur Kenichi Nagira will host the Nagira Kenichi no "Nobu Izakaya" o Sagashite (Kenichi Nagira Searches for Nobu Izakaya) program, where he will introduce izakaya establishments that offer the food seen in the anime. Chef Ryūta Kijima will host the Sōsaku Nobu Ryōri (Creating Dishes From Nobu), where he will show recipes to recreate the food from the anime. Both programs will stream alongside the anime.

The anime's cast includes:

Tomokazu Sugita as Nobuyuki "Nobu" Yazawa, the proprietor of Nobu. He used to work as a chef at a high-class Japanese restaurant, so his cooking skills are top class.

Suzuko Mimori as Shinobu Senke, Nobu's poster girl. She has a bright and cheerful personality, and is always polite. She likes delicious food.

Atsushi Abe as Hans, a guard in the capital city. Ever since he tasted "Toriaezu Nama" ale, he has become a regular at Nobu.

Showtaro Morikubo as Nikolaus, Hans' colleague who is always in a good mood. He is the one who brought Hans to Nobu.

Katsuyuki Konishi as Berthold, a commander in the city guard who is often called a "demon," and is also Hans and Nikolaus' superior officer. He has a strong aversion to squid.

Katsumi Ono (Hataraki Man, Senki Zesshō Symphogear AXZ) is directing the anime at Sunrise. Shin Yoshida (Yu-Gi-Oh!, Speed Grapher) is supervising and writing the series scripts, and Mariko Ito (Log Horizon, ViVid Strike!, Anonymous Noise) is designing the characters. Maiko Murase is responsible for sub character designs. Kumi Ishii is serviving as designer and chief animation director for the cuisine.

Jirou Kouno is the art director, and Eri Suzuki is the color key artist. Kumiko Taniguchi is handling the special effects, and Toshiyuki Sadamatsu is director of photography. Mutsumi Takemiya is editing, and Yoshikazu Iwanami is directing the sound.

The Clammbon musical trio performs the anime's theme song "Prosit!," and the group's Mito is also composing the anime's music with Sunrise Music Publishing.

The anime's official website describes the anime:

Isekai Izakaya
Japanese food from another world

Izakaya “Nobu” is a modest establishment, staffed by only two people: master, Nobuyuki Yazawa, and server, Shinobu Senke.

Despite its humble appearance, its entrance is mysteriously connected to an ancient city from another world: “Aitheria.” Nobu's patrons consist of lazy palace guards, incognito clergymen, and the Waterworks Guildmaster – certainly not your average clientele!

But once they enter Nobu's doors, they are greeted with the finest alcohol they've ever tasted and dishes the likes of which they've never seen. With the food plentiful and the drinks flowing, the patrons leave their troubles at the door as they call:

"Give me a cold ale, master!"

"Welcome!"

"Evenin'"

The novels center on a bar called "Nobu" — located in Kyoto, Japan, but with a door that is connected to the bar in another world. The visitors include denizens of the other world, and customers seek out its excellent "Toriaezu Nama" ale and cuisine.

Semikawa launched the novel series on the Shōsetsu-ka ni Narou ("Let's Be Novelists") website in 2012, and the series won the site's "Ni Narou Con Taishō" contest award. Takarajimasha began publishing the story in print with illustrations by Kururi in 2014. Takarajimasha published the fourth volume of the series in December 2015, and is reprinting the series in bunkobon pocket paperback format with some new material.

Virginia Nitōhei launched a manga adaptation of the series in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine in July 2015, and Kadokawa published the manga's fifth compiled book volume in December. The manga has 900,000 copies in print. Udon Entertainment will start publishing the manga in English this year.
