Event will also hold worldwide premiere screening of 1st 2 episodes of Release the Spyce

Anime Festival Asia announced on Monday and Wednesday that it will feature the upcoming anime Release the Spyce and the anime Lost Song for its Jakarta event. The event will host the worldwide premiere screening of the first two episodes of the Release the Spyce anime, and will also host voice actress Yukari Anzai from Release the Spyce. For Lost Song, the event will host singer and voice actress Konomi Suzuki, and directors Junpei and Morita.

Release the Spyce is a collaboration between Yuruyuri manga creator Namori as original character designer and Yuki Yuna Is a Hero creator Takahiro for the original concept. The anime marks Akira Satou's directorial debut at Lay-duce. Takahiro is credited for series composition as well as original planning. Satoshi Ishino is adapting Namori's characters for animation. SORASAKI.F is credited for the original work. The anime will premiere in October.

The anime begins with a lone high school girl named Momo Minamoto (Yukari Anzai), attending a high school in the city of Sorasaki. Unbeknownst to everyone, Momo is an agent who works for the private intelligence agency Tsukikage, that protects the city and its people. Under the tutelage of her senior Yuki, and her other friends, they keep the peace in the city. The story will eventually focus on six high school girls.

Lost Song is a co-production between LIDEN FILMS and Dwango.

Netflix Japan began streaming Lost Song on March 31, and it ran for 12 episodes. The series also began airing on television in Japan on April 7. Netflix will premiere the anime outside Japan on September 30. Netflix describes the "fantasy opera's" story:

Rin (Konomi Suzuki), an energetic girl who loves to eat, lives in a verdant frontier village. Deep within the royal palace in the bustling capital city, the songstress Finis (Yukari Tamura) spends her days in solitude. Both share a special power no other person has. A miraculous power that can heal wounds, create water and stir the wind -- the power of song. Guided by destiny, the two young women each face an arduous journey with the power of song. The shadow of war looms over the kingdom, tainting even the miraculous songs with the blood of innocents. Loved ones meet their deaths as silent screams echo through a stone prison. As two destinies intersect, will the final song be one of despair, hope or...?

Junpei and Morita directed the anime and wrote the script. Tomonori Fukuda (Robotics;Notes) provided the original character designs. Deho Gallery provided the background art. The staff also included Chikara Sakurai as the animation facilitator, Shizue Kaneko as the main character designer, Shuichi Hara and Toshiyuki Fujisawa as sub character designers, Barnstorm Design Labo for design works, Kinichi Okubo as art director, Mineyo Oonishi as color key artist, and Mitsuyoshi Yamamoto as director of photography.

AFA Jakarta 2018 is scheduled to take place at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition from August 31 to September 2. The event was previously scheduled for August 3 to 5, but the convention announced in March that it was rescheduled. The convention will be held in conjunction with the GameStart Asia event.

Anime Festival Asia will also have a Singapore event from November 30 to December 2.
