Original series starring Konomi Suzuki, Yukari Tamura premiered on Netflix in Japan on March 31

Netflix confirmed with ANN on Sunday that it will debut the Lost Song original anime project outside Japan on September 30. Netflix is currently listing the September 30 release date on its Media Center website.

Netflix Japan began streaming the project on March 31, and new episodes stream weekly on Saturdays. The series also began airing on television in Japan on April 7.

The official website for the anime had listed that the anime would premiere outside Japan this summer.

The series is a co-production between LIDEN FILMS and Dwango that will run for 12 episodes. Netflix describes the "fantasy opera's" story:

Rin (Konomi Suzuki), an energetic girl who loves to eat, lives in a verdant frontier village. Deep within the royal palace in the bustling capital city, the songstress Finis (Yukari Tamura) spends her days in solitude. Both share a special power no other person has. A miraculous power that can heal wounds, create water and stir the wind -- the power of song. Guided by destiny, the two young women each face an arduous journey with the power of song. The shadow of war looms over the kingdom, tainting even the miraculous songs with the blood of innocents. Loved ones meet their deaths as silent screams echo through a stone prison. As two destinies intersect, will the final song be one of despair, hope or...?

Junpei and Morita are directing the anime and writing the script. Tomonori Fukuda (Robotics;Notes) is providing the original character designs. Deho Gallery is providing the background art. The staff also includes Chikara Sakurai as the animation facilitator, Shizue Kaneko as the main character designer, Shuichi Hara and Toshiyuki Fujisawa as sub character designers, Barnstorm Design Labo for design works, Kinichi Okubo as art director, Mineyo Oonishi as color key artist, and Mitsuyoshi Yamamoto as director of photography.

Aki Hata (Ange Vierge, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya theme song lyrics) is in charge of lyrics, and Yūsuke Shirato (The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, Ange Vierge theme song composition) is composing the music. 5pb. Records is in charge of music production. Konomi Suzuki is performing the opening theme song "Utaeba Soko ni Kimi ga Iru Kara" (If I Sing, You Will Be There). Yukari Tamura is performing the show's ending theme song "Tears Echo."
