Agreed that this is a strong season for romance options, with an unusually diverse collection of titles.

Of these, Tamon's B-Side has been the surprise keeper for me this season, and for pretty much the reasons stated in the article. Contrarily, I haven't been able to get as enthusiastic about Polar Opposites as a lot of others seems to be. I can acknowledge that it's well-made (especially in the supporting cast), but something about it rubs me wrong; I think it's that Suzuki is more annoying than lovable to me in her spastic behavior. Not as irritating as the protag of Tune into the Midnight Heart, though! Like that show's concept but won't watch it because of him.

I am watching Polar and Tamon because they are funny and they depart even a little from the usual tropes of the rom-com genre: pushy hot guy x shy girl, unremarkable Potato-kun x 2+ cute girls, etc.*

,* other genders/orientations may be available

P.S: no mentions to best character Gapacho, tsk.

Tamon and Mayo Tune are my rom-com picks for the season (and the only two that aren't MF Ghost). Personally, I enjoy jackass protagonists with little care or patience for the crap they get from other people, like Leon Fou Bartfort or Hareluya Hibino. So I can handle Yamabuki way better than most people. But even I still think he comes across super-blowhardy compared to his fellow "jerk with a heart of gold" protags, and have found myself shaking my head more than once at some of his antics.
