posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
The official website for the television anime of Akatsuki and Kadokawa's Hachigatsu no Cinderella Nine smartphone game revealed the first wave of cast members for the anime on Thursday, and revealed the character visuals on Friday. All the newly announced cast members are reprising their roles from the game. The cast includes:
Nozomi Nishida as Tsubasa Arihara
Reina Kondo as Ryō Shinonome
Saki Minami as Yūki Nozaki
Honoka Inoue as Tomoe Kawakita
Yumiri Hanamori as Akane Ukita
The anime will premiere in 2019.
Susumu Kudo (Ghost in the Shell Arise, Dies irae) is directing the series at TMS Entertainment (Yowamushi Pedal Glory Line, Ninja Girl & Samurai Master). Jin Tanaka (Laid-Back Camp, Go! Princess Precure) is in charge of series composition, and Takayuki Noguchi (Queen's Blade: Rebellion, Ro-Kyu-Bu!) is designing the characters.
The game launched on iOS and Android devices on June 27, 2017. The game is free to play, but in-game items are available for purchase.
In the game, the player takes the role of an unnamed former little senior league baseball ace who lost his or her baseball career after suffering an unspecified injury. The character moves to his or her grandmother's hometown and enrolls in the local high school, resolved never to enter the world of baseball again. When the character meets Tsubasa Arihara, he or she is persuaded to be the manager of the school's baseball team, and to take the team to the high school nationals at Koshien.
In the game, players gather team members (there are over 50 characters in the game) and experience the team members' stories. Players also train the members to improve their skills, and take members to games to compete. Players then have to decide on the batting order.

The game's official site is serializing a four-panel manga titled Hachi Nai Gaiden: Senryoku Gai! Katato-chan by Pop Team Epic's Bkub Okawa, and the manga inspired a series of four web anime shorts titled Katato the Animation. The site is also serializing a novel.
