Studio DEEN Reveals Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga Original TV Anime with Hakuōki Anime's Staff

Anime to tell "bold interpretive" story of Oda Nobunaga

Studio DEEN revealed on Thursday that it is developing a new original anime series titled Kochoki: Wakaki Nobunaga that will premiere on television in summer 2019.

The anime will reunite the staff of the Hakuōki anime franchise, including character designer Atsuko Nakajima, script supervisor Ryota Yamaguchi, and scriptwriter Megumu Sasano. Additionally, Kaoru Sawada (Diamond Daydreams, Junji Ito "Collection") is also writing the scripts, and Noriyuki Abe (Yū Yū Hakusho, Bleach, GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka, The Heroic Legend of Arslan) is directing the series.

The anime will give a "bold interpretation" on historical figure Oda Nobunaga starting with his youth as an early teen. The series will follow him and his rivalry with his younger brother Nobuyuki and

The February issue of Tokuma Shoten's Animage magazine will start a novel adaptation for the series on January 10. The novel will serve as both a prequel and a spinoff. Sasano is writing the novel.
