Mobile app data analysis organization Sensor Tower reported on Wednesday that the Pokémon GO smartphone game earned an estimated US$795 million worldwide in 2018, about a 35% increase over its revenue from 2017. Overall, the game has earned US$2.2 billion since its launch in July 2016.

In 2018, the Pokémon GO app saw the additions of the research tasks, trading, and player-vs-player battle features. The app also added connectivity with the Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! Nintendo Switch games, which shipped on November 16.

According to a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, the game's developer Niantic recently secured an investment of US$190,552,365 from a sale of equity. In addition to Pokémon GO, Niantic publishes Ingress Prime, and is developing Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
