Mayonaka no Occult Kōmuin Anime's 3rd Promo Video Reveals April 7 Premiere

Modern fantasy series stars Jun Fukuyama, Tomoaki Maeno

The official website for the television anime adaptation of Yōko Tamotsu's Mayonaka no Occult Kōmuin (Midnight Occult Civil Servants) manga began streaming a third promotional video for the series on Friday. The video reveals that the show will premiere on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, and BS11 on April 7 at 24:30 (effectively April 8 at 12:30 a.m.), before airing later that night on KBS Kyoto. The show will also air on TV Aichi and will stream on Hikari TV and dTV Channel.

The show stars:

Tetsuya Watanabe (Rumbling Hearts, Strain: Strategic Armored Infantry, Schwarzes Marken) is directing the anime at LIDEN FILMS. Tatsuto Higuchi (CROSS ANGE Rondo of Angel and Dragon, Schwarzes Marken, My-Otome) is in charge of series composition. Eriko Itō (Hamatora, Danchigai, Love and Lies) is designing the characters.

Voice actor Jun Fukuyama will perform the opening theme song "dis-communicate" for the anime. The single for the song marks Fukuyama's first single tie-up with an anime. Voice actor Shunichi Toki will perform the ending theme song "Yakusoku no Overture" (The Promised Overture).

The modern fantasy manga centers on Arata Miyako, a new government worker assigned to the Shinjuku Ward Office's "Nighttime Regional Relations" department. Each of Tokyo's 23 wards has one such department, which were established to solve paranormal and occult-related events. Arata can understand non-human speech that no one else understands, and he encounters a yōkai (supernatural entity) at Shinjuku Gyoen park that calls him Abe no Seimei — the name of a historical Japanese occultist and diviner.

Tamotsu launched the manga in Kadokawa's Monthly Asuka magazine in May 2015, and the manga also runs on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype website. The manga's 12th volume is listed with a bundled original anime DVD.
