Anime Fest @ NYCC Hosts Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld Anime's N. American Premiere

Aniplex of America announced on Wednesday that it will screen the North American premiere of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld, the second half of the Sword Art Online: Alicization anime, at this year's Anime Fest @ NYCC event on October 6 at 3 p.m. EDT. The event will feature the first two episodes, followed by a question and answer session with Bryce Papenbrook, the English voice actor of Kirito.
Tickets for the event are US$19 for general admission, which includes guaranteed seating and special clear file, and US$39 for premium tickets, which includes priority reserved seating, a special clear file, and a post-event meet and greet plus autograph signing with Papenbrook.
The Anime Fest @ NYCC event will be held in conjunction with New York Comic Con, which will be held at the Javits Center in New York from October 3-6.
The anime will also have an advanced screening in Japan at Shinjuku Wald 9 on October 6. More advanced screenings will be at select theaters in Japan on October 8 at 7:00 p.m.
The anime will premiere on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and MBS, on October 12, and it will also begin streaming on AbemaTV on the same day. The show will then premiere on AT-X on October 13, and on TV Aichi on October 15. Funimation will stream the series.
The anime will also have a compilation episode for Sword Art Online: Alicization titled "Reflection" that will run on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, and Tochigi TV on October 5. The episode will then run on AT-X on October 6, on MBS on October 7, and on TV Aichi on October 12, and it will stream on AbemaTV on October 12.
Sword Art Online: Alicization premiered in Japan in October 2018, and is streaming on Crunchyroll, Hulu, and FunimationNow. The series is adapting the entire "Alicization Arc" of Reki Kawahara's original novels and will air for four cours, or four quarters of a year. The first two cours aired from October to March.
Manabu Ono (Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere, Saki, The Asterisk War) is directing the anime at A-1 Pictures. Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale animation directors Gou Suzuki and Tomoya Nishiguchi are joining Shingo Adachi for the character designs. Yuki Kajiura is returning to compose the music. Haruka Tomatsu is performing the opening theme song "Resolution."
