Ani-One Simulcasts Sushi Sumo, Let's Make a Mug Too, iii icecrin Anime in April

Sushi Sumo streams on April 3, Let's Make a Mug Too on April 5, iii icecrin on April 6

Hong Kong content distributor MediaLink Entertainment Limited's Ani-One YouTube channel announced on Facebook on Thursday that it will stream the television anime of Masako An's Sushi Sumo (Dosukoi Sushi-Zumo) picture book on April 3 at 4:00 a.m. IST, the television anime adaptation of the city of Tajimi's promotional manga Let's Make a Mug Too (Yakunara Mug Cup Mo) on April 5 at 8:00 p.m. IST, and the iii icecrin television anime on April 6 at 5:00 a.m. IST.

Alongside India and Hong Kong, Ani-One will stream all three anime in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Sushi Sumo will premiere on tvk and other channels in April. The comedy follows various sushi entrees as they enter the sumo wrestling ring.

The cast includes:

  • Miyuki Ōshima (Morisanchū comedy trio) as Ocha Kaisetsusha (Tea Commentator)
  • Kenjiro Tsuda as Nasubi Oyakata (Eggplant Stable Master)
  • Kento Hama as Takenoko Oyakata (Bamboo Shoot Stable Master)
  • Chiharu Sawashiro as Gari Yobidashi (Marinated Ginger Announcer)
  • Kenta Sasa as Wasabi Gyōji (Wasabi Referee)

Yūta Sukegawa is directing the anime at Shirogumi Inc. Dosukoi Kids with Keropons perform the opening theme song "Sushi Sushi Show!" while Keropons also performs the ending theme song "Dosu Dosu Dosukoi!"

Kodansha published the original picture book in 2018.

The Let's Make a Mug Too anime will premiere on April 2.

The anime will also have a live-action part. The live-action part will feature the anime's cast highlighting famous locations and shops in Tajimi, and will take on challenges.

The cast includes Minami Tanaka as pottery novice Himeno Toyokawa, Yū Serizawa as Himeno's classmate and the pottery club's mood-maker Mika Kukuri, Yuki Wakai as the anime and game fan Naoko Naruse who spends all her time at the club for some reason, and Rina Honnizumi as the club president Toko Aoki who has enjoyed pottery since she was little. Other cast members include Kaito Ishikawa as Himeno's father Tokishirō Toyokawa, Rin Mizuhara as Himeno's grandmother Sachie Tokikawa, and Mana Ogawa as ceramics club adviser Mami Koizumi. Aya Uchida will perform the show's ending theme song "Pale Blue." Uchida will also voice the mascot character Mad Deiemon, and will also narrate the next episode previews.

Haru Miyachi and Nendo Tsumura play students who attend pottery club at a different school from the main characters. They received the parts following an audition of over 2,000 applicants.

Jun Kamiya (Blue Seed, The Third: The Girl with the Blue Eye, Kingdom) is directing the anime at Nippon Animation. Naruhisa Arakawa (Active Raid, Twin Star Exorcists, This Art Club Has a Problem!) is writing and supervising the series scripts. Ayano Yoshioka is designing the characters and also serving as the chief animation director. Tajimi and its tourism association are both collaborating on the anime.

The Mug-Mo unit – composed of the main characters' voice actresses Minami Tanaka, Yū Serizawa, Yūki Wakai, and Rina Honnizumi – will perform the anime's opening theme song "Tobira o Aketara" (If You Open the Door). The five-member all-female idol group Maneki-kecak will perform the live-action part's theme song "Mawaru Sekai ni" (In This Spinning World).

The city of Tajimi, located in the southern part of Gifu Prefecture, Japan, is famous for Mino earthenware. The city is dotted with historical pottery producers and ceramic art museums. It has facilities where you can try your hand at making pottery, and many restaurants that serve food on Minoware dishes.

The story begins when a high school girl moves to a shopping street in Tajimi. Many encounters await her, friends, town folk, ceramic art, etc. What will she discover in a town famous for ceramic?


The iii icecrin anime will premiere on April 6 on TV Tokyo.

Juria Matsumura (TsukiPro the Animation) is directing the anime at Shin-Ei Animation. Hiroko Fukuda (Amanchu! Advance) is in charge of series composition. Kenta Higashiohji (Super Shiro, Pocket Monster Koko) is composing the music.

The anime is a collaboration between Shin-Ei Animation and Okinawa-based ice cream company Blue Seal Ice Cream.

Aya Matsui (Inai Inai Baa!/Peek-a-Boo! show's Ūtan character) designed the characters who spend their days at Ice Cream Town. The characters are a fusion of 15 various flavors of Blue Seal ice cream with bears, capybaras, otters, pandas, and other animals.

Shin-Ei animation is best known for producing Doraemon and Crayon Shin-chan, two long-running television anime that both consistently rank among the highest weekly ratings for animated programs in Japan.
