Live-Action Futari Escape Series Unveils Opening Song Artist, Key Visual

Kentarō Seino performs opening theme song for October 4 comedy


The staff for the live-action series adaptation of Shōichi Taguchi's Futari Escape (Our Escape) manga announced on Tuesday that singer-songwriter Kentarō Seino is performing the opening theme song "Futari de Hitotsu" (The Two of Us Are One), along with a new key visual. Seino created the song specifically for the series.

Seven Seas publishes the manga in English and describes the comedy story:

Two young women—one an overworked manga artist, the other a jobless slacker—try to escape the realities of adulthood. Whether it's by going into debt while splurging on an epic meal or taking an impromptu trip, “Kouhai” and “Senpai” find a way to make the most of their days! Kick back and relax with this adorable comedy!

The live-action series stars Nogizaka46 idol group members Renka Iwamoto (Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective) and Nao Tomisato (live-action Oshi no Ko ).

Kahori Higashi is directing the live-action series, and is also co-writing the scripts with Mari Kawada. Ryō Murata is the series planner, Hiroki Yamamoto serves as chief producer, and Seiya Horio and Miyuki Sasagi serve as producers. Besides creating the manga, Taguchi also composes the live-action series' music.

The late-night weekly series will premiere on the TV Osaka and TV Aichi channels on October 4. The series will also stream on Lemino Premium and TVer services in Japan.

Taguchi launched the manga in Ichijinsha's Comic Yuri Hime magazine in July 2020, and ended the manga in December 2022. . Ichijinsha shipped the fourth and final compiled book volume in February 2023. Seven Seas licensed the manga in English.

Taguchi launched the I Sold My Life for Ten Thousand Yen Per Year (Jumyō wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichiman'en de.) manga in August 2016 on the Shonen Jump+ app and website, and the manga series ended in October 2017. The manga is an adaptation of Sugaru Miaki's Three Days of Happiness (Mikkakan no Kōfuku) novel.
