Television, video game, and comic book writer Curtis Baxter (Miles Morales: Spider-Man Annual #1 comic, Cartoon Network's Ben 10 series) announced on October 23 he has acquired the rights to Robert Repino's acclaimed sci-fi book franchise The War With No Name and is producing a webtoon adaptation of the same name. The webtoon will be released on the WEBTOON service and app.
Baxter, part of Dan Lin's Rideback RISE program supporting diverse creators, is also developing an eight-episode animated television series exploring the characters' backstories.
The webtoon of The War With No Name is expected to debut in early 2026, with its first season spanning 35 episodes covering the first two books in the four-book series. Baxter will serve as both writer and executive producer, with artwork by illustrator MuYoung Kim and production by Kisai Entertainment, Indonesia's leading webtoon studio.
The story of Robert Repino's original universe unfolds during an animal–human war, and follows a domestic cat named Sebastian, who transforms into a deadly assassin known as Mort(e). As he searches for his missing canine companion Sheba, Mort(e) uncovers dark secrets about the world and its mysterious architect, the Ant Queen.
