Dos Monos Unveil Animated Music Video for 'Gilda'
Japanese experimental hip-hop group Dos Monos have released the animated music video for “Gilda”, the opening track from their latest EP “Dos Moons”. The EP's cover artwork was created by Junji Ito — the legendary horror manga artist behind “Tomie” and “Uzumaki” — who has earned global acclaim with honors including the Eisner Award and Inkpot Award.

Known for their avant-garde musical approach and bold conceptual frameworks, Dos Monos have consistently expanded the boundaries of Japanese hip hop. In 2022, they completed a successful European tour with UK rock band black midi, further amplifying their reputation abroad.
The “Gilda” music video was crafted by two renowned figures in Japanese animation. Naoyuki Asano, celebrated for his character design work on “Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!”, “Urusei Yatsura”, and “Osomatsu-san”, handled all illustrations. Editing was done by Nobutaka Yoda, known for directing the opening animation of the long-running “Doraemon” TV series, as well as contributing to globally resonant projects such as “Pokémon Concierge” and “Pokémon: Twilight Wings”.

▼Dos Monos
Dos Monos is a Japanese rap trio composed of Zo Zhit, TaiTan, and Botsu aka NGS.
In 2018, they announced their signing with the U.S. label Deathbomb Arc and released their debut
album "Dos City" in March 2019. Since then, they have established themselves as a singular force in
the Japanese music scene through appearances at domestic and international festivals and their
self-curated event series, "Theater D."
They've collaborated not only with musicians such as UK rock band black midi and U.S. hip-hop
group Injury Reserve, but also across disciplines—with Taiwan's Digital Minister Audrey Tang, literary
author Yasutaka Tsutsui, and manga artist Q Hayashida.
In October 2022, they joined black midi on a European tour, followed by a successful solo tour across
Europe in the summer of 2023. Amid this momentum, they announced the conclusion of their first
chapter. From 2024, they began their second chapter—this time as a full "band." In May 2024, they
released the album "Dos Atomos," followed in 2025 by the EP "Dos Moons," with cover art by
legendary horror manga artist Junji Ito.
