One Piece, Lupin the 3rd Voice Actress Miyuki Sawashiro Welcomes 1st Child

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Monkey D. Luffy voice actress Mayumi Tanaka announced on her blog on Thursday that fellow voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro successfully gave birth to her first child. Her co-stars in the One Piece anime series held a small party to celebrate the child's birth and Sawashiro's return home.

Sawashiro announced she would take maternity leave from her voice acting roles beginning this summer and that she is aiming for an early return to work. She currently voices the character Charlotte Pudding in One Piece, however Houko Kuwashima took over the role during her maternity leave.

Sawashiro has starred in more than 100 anime, and perhaps her most notable recent role is the voice of the character Fujiko Mine in recent installments of the Lupin III franchise. She has also voiced characters in such anime as Di Gi Charat (Puchiko/Petit CHARAT), Galaxy Angel (Mint), Bakemonogatari (Suruga), Beelzebub (title character), Gosick (Cordelia Gallo), Kimi ni Todoke (Ayane Yano), Letter Bee (Lag Seeing), and Persona -trinity soul- (Jun Kanzato). Sawashiro also performed theme songs for Bakemonogatari, Di Gi Charat, Galaxy Angel, Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei, and other projects. She most recently starred in Kiss Him, Not Me (Shima Nishina), Occultic;Nine (Aria Kurenaino), Sword Art Online the Movie: Ordinal Scale (Shino Asada/Shinon), Rage of Bahamut: Virgin Soul (Rita), Fate/Apocrypha (Mordred), No Game, No Life Zero (Izuna Hatsuse), and Maquia - When the Promised Flower Blooms (Rashine).

She announced in June 2014 that she had married a man outside of the industry.

She has a younger brother named Chiharu Sawashiro who debuted as a voice actor in 2014.
