I don't know Harmony Gold has rights in both Spain and Latin America. If HG doesn't have the right in those territories, then I think it's possible to make live-action Macross/Robotech.
Personally I think that those makers should focus on getting blessings from original Japanese creators as well. |

I grew up on Robotech, frankly find it painful what Harmony Gold is doing with the property. I Story byself is good, still built on the bones of other animes. I like Macross alot, and its basicly not going come over unless something changes in Harmony Gold management.
True enough, HG is no longer in the animation/video business, their in the realistate business. nostalgia is only thing keeping Robotech alive, all attempts they have done in the past to forge a new franchise of Robotech has been slash and burned mainly by THEM. Comics, TV, Video, Games, you name it. Its sad state of affairs. |

Like I said, they're copyright trolls. Unless they go out of business, the West will never see new Macross stuff out of fansubs. And the idea of a movie? Laughable.
