If I remember correctly, my sister-in-law went to primary school with him.

As a Canadian, I wish I had known this prior to him skating because K-On! is one of my favourite anime from the past decade.
Not otherwise interested in the Winter Olympics because I'm an anime fan and, as such, am not interested in sports, but I'd have rooted for a fellow K-On! fan.

Since when are being an anime fan and being a sports fan mutually-exclusive?
And given this is figure skating we're talking about, I guess one wouldn't expect him to be pumping himself up with something GAR.

Since I'm not interested in sports, I might as well mention it in conjunction with being an anime fan and play up the stereotype.

Maybe in the few "Death Devils" segments. K-On should have been about them; where is the K-On prequel series? lol.
The skater goes to Japan and so he prepares with K-On (of all things) and when he goes to SKorea, he preps with some SK idol band? It seems that he just partakes of a part-an admittedly eclectic part-of the "music culture" of whichever country he is next competing in. That kind of lessens the "He's a K-On! fan!" idea that I was getting from the headline. |
On a technical level, most of their music is pretty solid. I don't like metal because a lot of it is just hitting notes as fast as you can then, but Death Devil was even often an exception in that regard as some of their songs actually had a flow to them unlike standard metal.
