Haha, I've rarely seen such a well worded and vicious review, and the sad thing is that ... he's right. I didn't agree with every point, mainly his claim the game itself was weak, but I did agree with most and while I'm not sure I'd say it quite so brutally I really don't think I could have more effectively described the movies shortcomings.

[Semi OT] My copy of FFVII AC has a slight pause after the scene where spoiler[Kadaj get's his hands on Jenova after the awkward free-falling from a building scene]. At first I thought it was just my PS2 having trouble changing chapters, but then I was at my friends house, he rented it from Blockbuster, and the same thing happened on his DVD player. Did anyone else have this problem or did I just happen to pass by the only 2 defective, if they are defective, copies that were created? I lost my receipt so I can't return it as "defective" for a new copy. It really makes no difference in the presentation at all but I'm just wondering if anyone else had that problem. |

Mine does the same thing on my brothers Sony DVD player but it does not do so on my Philips DVD player at home. I'm pretty sure it's just switching layers, it's a pretty common side effect of that and some players handle it better than others.

I forgot about the whole "Dual Layer" stuff and you're right about some players taking it differently than others. Guess I just don't have the ideal player. |

I think many of you are forgetting that AC started out as a 20-25 min tech demo for UMD-only several years ago to promote their PSP. Due to popular demand, they decide to stretch it and put in on DVD for the fans, thus the release was delay. It's not like they're preplan this to be a masterpiece epic that many has hope for...

I did not got through the whole post cause I am short on time, but I thought the Movie was fantastic the perfect end to one of my old faviorite games. I thought it had an exelent plot and was very enjoyable to watch.

"Perfect end?" It didn't resolve a single thing, and in fact went so far as to negate much of the game's ending and tease an entirely new subplot. As a result of Advent Children, the game's ending pretty much meant nothing, and now there are even more and even bigger loose ends in the story than existed at the end of the game. How on Earth, if I may ask, is that a "perfect end?" |

All the kids revagely ripped through shreds by Clouds "shiny" sword(s)... with Aeris and Zack, no not tempest, laughing it up. It was a "perfect end" for the FFVII AC story itself, but really screwed up for the series. |

Actually, that's exactly what it is. They were working on those individual clips and decided to connect them and work on a movie instead of just whatever they were planning to do with them. So I guess there is a reason why there isn't a solid progression between scenes. |

I have just one comment for the dub crew
Sef-fee-roth - _NOT_ - Sef-fur-roth also as somewhat expectedly, half the male characters sounded exactly the same except for of course Barret and Cid who sounds like to the x-treme stereotypes! that's all I had to say really. I really think Advent Children filled my expectations: it is the greatest movie ever. Yes, I know the story is a little out there and probably deserves a C, but I pledge this movie as more of the ending to the whole thing and really, an ending doesn't really have story development.
As I watched the movie I really couldn't imagine I was actually watching something this awesome. I think the game absolutly plows down every piece of entertainment, even the movie doesn't come close. But the nostalgia I felt was something that outdoes any movie plot. I am a really hardcore FFVII fan (one who basically cried after seeing the first screens 2 1/2 years ago), Advent Children finally gives the ending FFVII deserved and for that reason alone, I think it destroy any of my movie experiences by far. P.S. The dub is spot on and I can hardly emagine it better. |

Who are you to say how the name is pronounced? My friends and I always pronounced it like the movie did. It's like the name Barret. I can see people pronouncing it "Bear-it" or "Ba-ray". |

An ending is the culmination of previous story development. The game already culminated its own story development, Advent Children just went back and negated all of that, plus added a half-dozen more wide-open story threads that didn't even get introduced properly, much less resolved. Not only is this just about the worst excuse for an "ending" one can think of, but it doesn't even properly develop a continuing or stand-alone story properly.
Wow, you must really hate Final Fantasy VII to say that Advent Children is the ending it "deserved." An "ending" that undoes the entire cast's struggle from the game, revokes just about any character development and growth Cloud received during the game, magically brings back the main villain through a completely nonsensicel knot of plot contrivances, and then doesn't even bother to address the ample amounts of new material that were haphazardly introduced and then thrown unceremoniously at your feet is about the most disrespectful spit in the eye and slap in the face that Square-Enix could've ever cooked up for the fanbase. There's no point to any of it; how can you really call this a decent stand-alone plot, much less an "ending?" Don't just blindly accept it because "it's Final Fantasy VII." You should really be hating this thing for being anything but the masterpiece you and all the other other die-hard, long-lived fans really deserved. For staying so loyal to an aging game after a full decade? You should've gotten so much more than this for showing that kind of loyalty. |

Here we go, a first time poster and he's already badmouthing dubs. Silly otaku, thinking that they're the top authorities on voice acting and name pronunciation. |
