Hmm...I prefer the Black Editions. They're still my favorite.

Agreed. Definitely the best Death Note release out west, at least. This is pretty cool though.

There's no way this is meant for reading. The binding is too cheap. Looks like your standard glue binding that cheaper, smaller books have. Unless you're super careful with this, the spine will end up bending due to the weight. Then, of course, the pages will fall out, because glue isn't meant to hold 2,400 pages. The pages are also probably really thin and cheap, to make the book as thin as possible. At least its fairly inexpensive. I do feel bad for the people buying this to read, only to have it fall apart on them.

Damn, I'd be afraid to open this due to what will happen to the spine.

I saw this yesterday in a bookstore in Tokyo (guess they got it early.) Was wondering why there was another Death Note release. Actually doesn't seem that big in person; must have used very thin paper.

Good. Now do this with Kochikame Laughing

I don't think that there will be enough stepladders for reading that from the beginning. Laughing

My thoughts exactly! I did Publishing for a while and it makes me cringe to see paperbacks of big classic books like Les Misérables or Proust or Samuel Richardson's Clarissa. (The copies I have are collated into separate volumes.) The gigantic paperbacks must be prone to so much strain on the spine! Shocked

This Death Note volume is definitely meant for collectors in other words people who only buy it just to add it too their collection of things to look at but never touch. Rolling Eyes

I cans see the appeal of having the entire series in one volume but, come on now, that's just asking to break. Plus, I don't care much for the idea of omnibuses because that's just less cover artwork to look at.

Someone beat me with the Kochikame joke. Would be nice cool if Yugioh got the same thing that included Transcend Game, which released this year.

For modern English publications, something that big normally applies to various Holy Bible translations or dictionaries. For example, there was a March release of the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, Fifth Edition, published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This dictionary is 2112 pages.
