After watching the second episode of Lapis Re:L1GtHs and its next episode preview, it looks like a pretty fine show to watch... if it weren't for the awful, awful promises the synopsis and OP make (the latter promises to give a turn in the spotlight to 19 girls).
There are many shows that sound good on paper but are awful in execution, some that sound pretty bad but are actually good, and then there are a few that seem like the second case but you just know the commercial obligations will ruin.

As for SAO, yeah. The scene with Leafa and the orc was nice, if corny, but it had to be ruined by gratuitious tentacle rape (with some torture porn added in for good measure). There was no reason why it had to be like that. Or last so long.
Also, the tongue-in-cheek part where everytone acknowledges that Kirito will come to save the day at the most dramatic time made me groan. But I guess it has been over a decade so I guess it sounded more clever and fresh back then.

SAO is still being SAO I see.

At least the rest of episode was pretty solid.

Frankly, I find him pathetic in a not-entertaining way. Hopefully he will experience significant character growth as a result of continuing to deal with Chizuru and the other girls shown in the closer, as he would be a chore to watch going forward as he is right now.

spoiler[Oh, Theron, you must be new here...

It doesn't get better. The manga is almost 150 chapters in, and just when we think our male MC actually develops a little, he somehow suffers a silent metaphorical stroke and can't behave like a decent human being, let alone boyfriend. If episode 1 was a struggle, you might as well abandon ship.]

Good to know. Now I can definitely scratch it off my seasonal viewing list.

peter grill.

This was avery diferent show for me, if you want to understand my mindset, just invert the genders of the characters. So for me this was the "mc wants to avoid getting raped" show and I was very surprised b the reviews which seems to be reviewing a very different show.

uzaki chan.
It was a nostalgic show that gave me a lot of feels, I guess it wa because having annoying friends was somethig I grew up with ? Also, with the only difference that we were in the same year, I had a friend which was just like uzaki.

Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai was more innocent and fun than I expected. I thought Uzaki would be a more annoying and dumber version of Nagatoro but she's actually just a dork. I also expected it to be a rapid-fire series of situations for Uzaki to ridicule senpai but instead I was met with a long cohesive sequence of friends just goofing around. It was nice. One would also think that they'd get more use out of the SUGOI DEKAI as a vehicle for random fanservice than they actually did, it turned out to be just two cuts (one of which barely had any movement anyway) and two subdued remarks.

About No Gun's Life ending sequence, while I was impressed about it and liked its overall ideas, it was still lacking at key points. Namely the battle choreography felt bland and had no punch considering how bombastic these characters are, as well as being pretty one-sided (some animations were also pretty lifeless and obviously stock). And the "sexy dance" moments were pretty cringey and reminds me how this series is "almost there" with its female characters only to suddenly pull that kind of crap. And considering what they were going for, they should have stylized them as neon tube lights or something!

You do realise it's not so much "mc wants to avoid getting raped" as much him giving in to temptation by having weak will right?I mean the show established he is the strongest so if he TRULY wanted not to have sex with all these girls he is perfectecly capable to push back, but alas he gives in everytime.

There comes a point in the manga spoiler[where the monster girls threaten to tell the truth to his fiancee if he doesn't continue having sex with them. They even prepare a timetable which they expect him to follow].

Yes that excuse would work the same way if the genders were swapped and at the same time the narrative had established that she is the "strongest warrior" so she would be strongest than the attackers,I don't see how it would be any different.

Yes, that's my reaction as well. Certainly the weakest season I've seen in at least a couple of years.

We are lucky we are getting anything considering the situation with the pandemic. At least the delayed releases from Spring are holding up well on the animation front, but anything new would probably be a mess. There are still a lot of delayed shows from Spring that either haven’t been reviewed or started airing again yet along with a boatload of sequels (Railgun, Shokugeki, Balance Unlimited, Great Pretender, Black Clover, Appare Ranman, Muhyo to Roji 2, Kingdom 3, Bungou to Alchemist 2, Major 2), some continuing anime that weren’t put on hold like Fruits Basket, and a ridiculous amount of Chinese ONA series. New shows might be sparse, but there is still plenty of watch time available in this season of sequels. ANN’s preview list will just be smaller since they sometimes skip sequels if the original wasn’t very popular and most of the shows that went on a hiatus and are picking back up have been reviewed in previous season previews.

It hasn’t been reviewed for the guide (yet) and it didn’t make it through to the weekly reviews, but Mr Love: Queen’s Choice premiered Wednesday and is good so far. It’s an adaptation of a Chinese mobile otome game, but the game is linear at least until the point we are at in the English translation - I’ve heard there are branching paths in later chapters, but the adaptation shouldn’t be going that far in the number of episodes it has.

If you at all like reverse harems, otome games or shoujo with a supernatural twist, you should check it out even though the premier was so late. I was going to watch it anyway as I love the game, but the first episode is actually good. It’s my second favourite non-sequel premier after Deca-Dence, though that’s more because of how few other shows there are this season, but it’s nice to have a cute guy series that’s decent.
