So, as I pray, Unlimited FUNimation Works!

...

A year ago, I never would have imagined myself saying this, but I doubt FUNimation can make much of OP. If they do, it'll be a miracle.

I missed my chance to buy the stock though. Neutral

Hey, guys - I'm Rob Bricken, the editor-in-chief on animeOnline, com. If you read the interviews we've got, FUNi reveals the DVD releases will be 13 episode box sets, like the uncut Naruto sets (and they give some details on the new TV version edits too, if you're interested). I think you'll be pleasantly surprised - I am, and I'm a raging One Piece fan who occasionally loses sleep that Eiichiro Oda might be hit by a bus in Tokyo and not finish the series.

Awesome. here is a good reply and a big thanks and congats to FUNi despite issues, I'll be buying this as this more or less makes up for their slopwork with the recent DBZ.

However, it mentions it will begin with ep 144. Does this mean episodes 1-143 will only be available edited, dub only? or Does this mean the televised version from FUNi begins there? I imagine it being the former rather than the later.

And to think I was going to get the R3 versions and such woah.

This is crazytimes.

This is great news. I may be able to finally enjoy the series...maybe. I'm a little apprehensive towards pirates.

Probably in reference to the Kodocha incident which while regrettable, still actually happened.

Similar stuff happened with the DB/DBZ dubs, in that backgorund songs were occasionally ommited from the 'faithful' versions of the release.

Lydia: In spite of being a show revolving around music, Kodocha had its music removed. Apparently, there are also certain openings for Case Closed with music cut, too. Not that it matters as much with the latter series, but at least they should play something else like they did with Baki.

Eunuch: If Kahn had his way, I'd imagine he'd be suing any websites selling the R3s like Harvey did when he was with Miramax.

Another interview on the site mentioned 13 episode uncut box sets for $50 each. They haven't decided on where to start for them yet though.

Now it'll probably just do better than Detective Conan instead of worse than Princess Tutu.

Remains to be seen; I've always been the pessimist who claims One Piece failed because it's One Piece, not because it was handled by 4Kids; it could very well make simmilar returns as Detective Conan, which could possibly flatten FUNimation once and for all.

I'm still skeptical; OP is diseased, rancid, and rotting; does it really deserve a second chance so soon? I mean, most of the lobbying on the internet was by a handful of irritated fans.

*looks around for steven*

FUNimation should have picked up Ouran instead.

If uncut boxsets with the Japanese track are released, not only will I buy them, but I will pledge my undying love and devotion to FUNimation... as long as there is no "the way it was meant to be seen" business.

Malintex: Well I agree that One Piece isn't great, but it should at least have been profitable, if handled well. Naruto was always going to kick its butt, but OP is still more marketable than Case Closed. And while I might not be a fan, even I can agree with them that Al Kahn was still the jerk in that situation.
