I am really annoyed that they're dropping Noein again!

Noein and Virus Buster Serge both air on November 12 and then finish on November 19 (Street Fighter Alpha: Generations also airs that week). I think this announcement just didn't mention Noien and Virus Buster Serge since they are old shows and it was only mentioning the new things.

Edit: Oops, someone beat me to posting this . . .

Now this isn't a fair assumption, I know, because I've never seen Perfect Blue, but based on what I've heard of it, if they edit it for television there'd be, like, nothing left! Shocked

This is a bit of a misnomer. Although Perfect Blue has it's graphic moments, there really is only two scenes in which an edit might be possible. The rest of the movie should run fine. Considering the time of night this will be on, I expect the only edits will be for some language, and some blurry vision for those more graphic scenes.

Edit:
Actually they will either use blurry vision or tele-zoom like they did with Ghost in the Shell. Rolling Eyes

Looks like a nice lineup. I gave up watching noein long ago (even though I love it), because I was missing alot of episodes and it became too hard to catch up. I think I'll just end up buying the dvd's. I've heard alot about Perfect Blue. I've been following the [as] run of Blood+. I've heard the movie was boring compared to the anime so I never bought it. But I'll watch it on TV.

As far as Perfect Blue goes, I don't think any of the violence is too harsh for TV spoiler[even the attempted rape at the end is devoid of nudity and not too violent by current standards] and most nudity can be edited out (spoiler[the racier parts of the photo shoot can be zoomed in so you get the idea of how far things are going without any nudity]) without any problems. The one issue I see is with the spoiler[rape scene from the movie which is essential to show what she is putting herself through to achieve her goal (she is literally letting herselft get raped - not in a porn, but in an R rated way so all you pervs can cool it)], it is pretty hard to handle, I found it the harshest scene in the whole movie, specially how it appears almost innocuous to all the other people involved (spoiler[ how the crew is oblivious to what she is going through and the other actor is making lame small talk during breaks in the scene]).

I really feel for you. Sad SciFi's handling of its two anime has been waaay nicer than how as treats theirs. Pester dad. Pester dad again. Pester dad 20 more times? Wink Read the webpage for the mtn channel to see what they can offer you. I took a look at it even though I live in CA. More suggestions? Lobby the cable company to add sci-fi to their basic package. Ask your friend to record stuff for you from their sci-fi channel. Oh, and if you rent, do one of those free 2 week trial and cram as much anime as you can watch during that time. You may have to pester dad for info to sign up for a rental account.

Believe me, I've pestered dad to no end. He won't break, trust me. Wink

Unfortunately, it looks like Comcast cable won't add any additional cable channels unless you get the upgrade. Yes I know, it's retarded, but then again so is Comcast. Rolling Eyes But it's the only cable subscrition right now that carries The Mtn., so there's no way out of that.

Speaking of The Mtn, well, it's complex, but if you understand the current situation NCAA's Mountain West Conference is in right now in regards to TV deals and how pissed it's making College sports fans all across the western states, it isn't so much. But it is indeed complex enough to have a hard time explaining it to you anyways.

Actually, I've highly considered asking people who have it in the past to tape stuff for me, I'm just not sure if I want to bother them with it is all. I don't know though, one of these days I just might....

And even though all I have is CN, I do actually have knowledge of anime outside of what's on there, because I have rented lots of stuff from local stores in the past and have also bought DVDs. I am also a fansub watcher, one who does purchase what he watches, so don't worry about that. Wink Plus all the manga I've read as well. But my current financial situation isn't very favorable, let's just leave it at that, so even then it's hard to get to see a lot of the stuff I want to. Maybe someday when my financial situation is a little better.....

I'm not trying to make excuses or anything, it's just that I'm not in the most favorable of positions at the moment is all. And all I can really do about it is have a little patience, which is hard, yes, but it is indeed a virtue nonetheless.

With these new airings and schedules, I wonder if this means the blocks are at least satisfactory for Sci-Fi.

Maybe this will spark interest in putting the Witch Hunter Robin project back on production.

That sounds about right, although I'm 99% sure that Starz doesn't own Manga or Sci-Fi. Just that Manga has a deal with Starz and Starz has a deal with Sci-Fi so Sci-Fi gets Manga shows through Starz as the middle-man...
I know that they don't own Sci-Fi but I do remember reading somewhere that they owned Manga. Though I'll take your word that they don't.

Starz Media does own Manga Entertainment. Here is a quote from their website: "Starz Media, LLC, is a programming production and distribution company operating worldwide. It includes the Film Roman, Anchor Bay Entertainment, Starz Animation, Toronto, and Manga Entertainment brands."

I think its a good thing they're at least airing the stuff, I remember when anime was a seasonal weekend special thing. Sci-fi used to air Robot Carnival and 8-man After and it was mind blowing. A little censorship wont hurt anybody, it may even drive sales.

I just thought of something. Why did Sci-Fi get dibs on Karas 2 when Karas 1 has been running on Encore?

Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society aired on Scifi awhile ago and is airing on Starz Edge Nov. 7. Things shown on Starz usually make it to Encore. So there's a chance Encore may get Karas 2 eventually.

Oh no, not at all, I consider you a friend to Richard. Smile

Well I've definitely decided I'm going to go and rent the first Karas movie the next time I get paid. I don't know if the 2nd one is over at the rental store yet or not, but if it is I'll have future plans for getting that one as well.

Sorry, but I'm not watching Perfect Blue unless it's the edited version! Razz

Noein is off for 2 weeks not 2 months. It's back on Nov. 12 and finishes on the 19th.

Oh, thank goodness. Noein finished on a really good cliffhanger, and I would have been really annoyed if we had that long a wait to find out what happened.

spoiler[I have a feeling things are not going to go well for Atori considering that he's currently the only one around to protect the kids and basically said he'll do whatever it takes to try to keep them safe. The poor guy obviously hasn't read the supporting character survival manual... ]

Black Jack, Surgeon with the hands of God....

Sweet.

Need the OVA to air now. I've got the manga, the movies, etc. However the movie and OVA are done a bit different than the rest, going a gritty hardboiled way I find to be quite well done.

What do I know though, I liked the gritty version of Phoenix.

I'm surprised, Karas the Revelation was not censored one bit as far as I could tell. I guess there was too much blood to censor so they gave up on trying.
