The official X (formerly Twitter) account for the anime based on Takeichi Abaraya and original series creator Kadzuya Konomoto's RoOT/Route of Odd Taxi (stylized with a backwards R in "RoOT") manga announced on Wednesday that the series will get two compilation films this year. The first compilation film will cover episodes 1-7 and will screen on September 10-11. The second compilation film will cover episodes 8-13 and will screen on September 17-18.

The films will screen in only five theaters in Japan. They commemorate the October 10 release of Konomoto and director Baku Kinoshita's original anime film The Last Blossom (Housenka). The screenings will also preview footage from the film.

The films are different from the Odd Taxi: In the Woods filmwhich is a "reconstruction" of the television anime episodes that also depicts what happens after the television anime's finale. The film opened in 34 theaters in Japan in April 2022, ranking at #10 and earning 52 million yen (approximately US$4,23,685) in its first weekend. The television anime's main cast and staff returned, and ASMIK Ace distributed the film. Crunchyroll is streaming the film.

Kinoshita is directing the The Last Blossom film, with Konomoto credited for the script and the original concept. CLAP (Pompo: The Cinéphile, The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes) is in charge of animation production, and Michinoku-Toge is credited for concept art. The band cero is composing the film's music.

Kinoshita and Konomoto previously collaborated on the ODDTAXI anime from 2021. The Odd Taxi anime premiered in Japan in April 2021 and aired for 13 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the anime in the West.

The live-action television series for RoOT/Route of Odd Taxi aired in April 2024. The RoOT/Route of Odd Taxi manga launched in February 2023 on Big Comic Superior's web manga site Darupana as part of the project of the same title.
