HBO Max to Add Angel's Egg, Shin Godzilla, your name., More Films Starting on September 1

The HBO Max streaming service will add 20 Japanese films to its library — including Angel's Egg, Shin Godzilla, and your name. — starting on September 1 in a new partnership with GKIDS.
The titles available on the service in September include:
- Children Who Chase Lost Voices
- Fireworks
- Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko
- Ghost Cat Anzu
- Lonely Castle in the Mirror
- Love & Pop
- The Place Promised in Our Early Days
- your name.
The following titles will join the library through 2025 and 2026:
- Angel's Egg
- Liz and the Blue Bird
- Lu over the wall
- Millennium Actress
- Mind Game
- Perfect Blue
- Shin Godzilla
- Summer Wars
- The Boy and The Beast
- The Colors Within
- The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
- Wolf Children
HBO Max raised its monthly price in June 2024 from US$15.99 to US$16.99 for the Standard ad-free plan, as well as the Premium ad-free tier from US$19.99 to US$20.99 per month.
The HBO Max streaming service launched in May 2020. The service cost US$14.99 per month at launch. It features content from other WarnerMedia brands, such as Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, and Looney Tunes.
HBO Max offers GKIDS' "entire Studio Ghibli film library." At launch, Crunchyroll (previously part of WarnerMedia), Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and Rooster Teeth also offered content through the service. Although Sony completed its acquisition of Crunchyroll in August 2021, Crunchyroll still has some titles on HBO Max.
