The best way to "remake" that game would be to cut out Vaan entirely and let either Ashe, Basch or Balthier be the lead. Maybe also add a Bangaa as a character instead, because the lack of diversity in the party was pretty ridiculous for a game set in Ivalice.
Then give the combat system some technical updates and overhaul the horrible mess of a license board and you just might have the best 3D single-player Final Fantasy ever.



... yes, I know it's only a HD-remaster. Let a man have some dreams, okay?

I thought the license board was alright. It was just ridiculous to have it include EQUIPMENT.

You know, like a certain VG Cats strip pointed out.

Yeah, but at some point you have to wake up and realize that it's not happening.

Have you not taken a look at what the International Zodiac Job System is? It puts in classic jobs like knight and healer (white mage), and limits the license board to showing only the licenses that correlate with the chosen job of the character. So yeah, you'll get the overhaul you're looking for in FFXII:TZA.

Personally, I loved the open license board of the original since it meant every character could become all-rounders, I never had to worry about my healer dying since every character had the potential to heal. But the IZJS looks like an interesting challenge.
