And considering gems are genderless its pretty much a copout there too. |

I had the exact same reaction, funnily enough. SU is anathema to me, although this is pretty par for the course for it. Doesn't mean I can't be a grinch about it.

Was not aware that Issue #4 was released yet. I hadn't bought any since I managed to get #1. Must remember to tell the hubby to take me to the local comic shop so I can pick these issues up!
Anyway, it's cute to see another anime reference in the comic! While I hadn't seen YOI, I learned enough about it from my friends that are. Still, I doubt I would've actually picked up on this. Judging by the one image, it looks like this story has Peridot in it, and knowing my love for the little green nerd, she'd probably would've taken my attention.

Exactly. I loved how much care was put into the relationships in YOI and I've heard the same said of SU. |

I concur. Why pretend that the character relationships weren't a hugely important part of YOI? People care about the skating in large part because they care about the skaters. |

I notice people often tend to fall into two camps with Yuri on Ice: 1) The show is trash and only ever did well because it's gay, and anyone who says they think the show is good is lying, they're just shallow agenda pushers who like it because it's gay. 2) The show is NOT GAY AT ALL, THERE IS NOTHING GAY HERE, I mean really, can't you see there is NOTHING GAY ABOUT IT? Both reactions are rather telling. |
